Safeguarding Policy
Two Golden Words
At Two Golden Words, your child's safety, wellbeing, and dignity are always my highest priority. I am committed to providing a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for every child and family I work with.
This policy explains how safeguarding is promoted and how concerns are managed.
My Commitment to Safeguarding
I am a registered Speech and Language Therapist with the HCPC and a member of the RCSLT. I follow professional safeguarding guidance and keep my safeguarding knowledge up to date through regular training.
All services are delivered in line with:
- HCPC Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics
- RCSLT Safeguarding Guidance
- UK safeguarding legislation and best practice
Creating a Safe Service
I aim to create a service where children and families feel safe, respected, and listened to.
This includes:
- Providing sessions in secure online environments
- Maintaining professional boundaries at all times
- Communicating clearly and respectfully
- Treating all families without discrimination
- Using age-appropriate, play-based approaches
- Ensuring children's voices are heard wherever possible
Working in Partnership with Parents
Safeguarding works best when professionals and parents work together.
I aim to:
- Keep parents informed about their child's progress
- Involve parents in decision-making
- Discuss any concerns openly where appropriate
- Encourage families to share worries or questions
- Respect family values and cultural backgrounds
Recognising When a Child May Need Support
Sometimes, a child may need extra protection or support. This may include concerns about:
- Physical safety
- Emotional wellbeing
- Neglect
- Developmental needs
- Online safety
- Family stress or instability
If I become concerned about a child's wellbeing, I will always act in their best interests.
What Happens If There Is a Concern
If a safeguarding concern arises, I will:
- Record my observations carefully and professionally
- Seek appropriate advice when needed
- Discuss concerns with parents where it is safe to do so
- Follow local safeguarding procedures
- Make referrals to relevant services if required
In rare cases, I may need to share information without consent if a child is at risk of harm. This is a legal and professional duty.
Confidentiality and Safeguarding
All information is treated as confidential.
However, confidentiality may be broken if:
- A child is at risk of significant harm
- There is a legal obligation to share information
- A safeguarding referral is required
Parents will be informed whenever possible.
Online Safety
As services are delivered online, additional measures are in place to protect families, including:
- Secure Zoom sessions
- Password-protected meetings
- No unauthorised recording
- Clear guidance on appropriate online behaviour
Parents are encouraged to supervise younger children during sessions.
